ABOUT SIMI VALLEY
Simi Valley is located adjacent to the spectacular Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills, which offer archetypal western desert vistas. Incorporated in 1969, the City of Simi Valley offers its 116,048 residents the desirable amenities of a big city with the peace, security and quality of country living. Good schools, low crime rates, high incomes and clean air make Simi Valley a great place to raise a family.
The Chamber of Commerce takes a very active role in the community, providing leadership and services to local business while supporting the local community. Simi Valley offers an array of shopping sites, numerous family parks, recreational opportunities and a great climate– the ideal setting for the World Series.
Simi Valley is home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, which presents history in a modern, fun and interesting environment. The Library and its archives which house 50 million pages of documents and over 1.5 million photographs, is located literally a few feet from the Simi Youth Baseball Complex. The Library hosts special events and celebrations throughout the year for visitors of all ages and will probably be amenable to offering a special rate for the families of those playing in the World Series.
THINGS TO DO WHEN NOT PLAYING
Six Flags
Just thirty minutes from our baseball complex is the famous Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park. Roller coaster connoisseurs love this 260 acre park. It features more than 100 thrilling rides, games and attractions, including the landmark 384-foot tall Sky Tower and 17 roller coasters -- the largest lineup in the world. Adjacent to the theme park is Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, a separate admission water park featuring 23 water slides and attractions.
Universal Studios Hollywood
In addition to the famous “backlot” tour of old film sets, offering occasional glimpses of movie stars at work, this attraction offer several movie-themed rides. In addition, baseball players and their families can visit Universal CityWalk Hollywood in Universal City, This free attraction was the first urban entertainment center created in Southern California.
J. Paul Getty Center
This spectacular museum boasts a most impressive collection by such luminaries as Van Gogh, Monet and Cezanne, along with the architectural triumph of its six buildings and gardens. It is free to the public and only a 45 minute car ride from our fields.
Grauman’s Chinese Theatre
When players and their families visit this attraction only 45 minutes from our fields, they will walk in the steps of the Tinseltown’s stars. Everyone can visit the theater’s famous forecourt and gaze down at the stars’ footprints, handprints and autographs immortalized in cement. The theater itself, a well-reserved gem, plays first-run movies.
LaBrea Tar Pits
The La Brea Tar Pits is the world’s richest site for ice age fossils and the only source for saber tooth cat fossils. This is a must see for science buffs or junior science buffs. The oil-rich landscape created tar lakes that to this day still bubble away (mainly behind fences). The animals would go down to get a drink and get trapped, then predators would attack the already trapped animals and become trapped themselves. It is, as a result, one of the only sites in the world where predator fossils outnumber prey! Visitors can often watch archaeologists dig through the tar pits and then sort their finds in the on-site museum.
DINING
The restaurant scene in Simi Valley and our surrounding area offers an eclectic mix of cuisines. Visitors can find food options in and around the fields to suit every palate and every price range. From traditional American cuisine, top-notch steak houses, local pizza places for a team dinner to fine restaurants, you’ll find the dining options in the area are as varied as the people.
